Spring Portraits Have Sprung

Every year it seems like fall is THE season to have professional photographs taken. Trust me, I get it! I love fall! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE fall, as an October baby maybe more than most! But at the end of every winter, as the temps begin to get warmer, and the trees start to turn from that drab gray to that distinct spring green, all I want to do is grab my camera and make all of the beautiful portraits!

As a portrait and event photographer in Atlanta, we are blessed with such beautiful springs. The city is brimming with green, and flowers that make the most gorgeous backdrops.

The pinks, purples, fluffy whites, creams, and bright greens make for the dreamiest portraits.

Can we talk about the light? The light in the spring has this sweet blue green undertone that you don’t find any other time of the year! This light is soft, flattering, and the newly grown flora and fauna become a beautiful filter to play with, during a portrait session.

The other bonus is that the days get longer! Trust me, I am the last person to praise the spring time change (is anyone else still having a hard time waking up in the morning?), but that extra hour we get in the evenings means we have more time to explore and play. More time for me to grab my camera and chase your restless toddler through a field of grass.

The other great thing about spring portrait sessions, it that you cannot beat the temperatures! As a long time Atlanta photographer, I know too well that summer comes on fast! There is no avoiding the humidity and sweaty heat once summer comes along. Spring on the other hand, gives us beautiful cool mornings that turn into warm sunny afternoons, that then shift into a chilly evening. The most perfect weather to me! It’s not too cold. It’s not too hot. It’s just right, especially to have portraits taken.

Lastly, spring portraits are great for any occasion! Engagement photographs, family portraits, best friend photos, a milestone photo of your rapidly growing little one. Are the grandparents coming to visit for spring break? How sweet would it be to capture some memories of them with the grandkids? Is there anything that screams spring more that a maternity portrait session? If you have only ever had your family portraits taken in the fall, I beg of you to consider a spring session. It will give you some photographs to look back on as your family grows, that capture a completely different vibe! The possibilities are endless!

No matter the group or the occasion, spring portraits are always a good idea!
